Today we made our way from Sarajevo to Mostar. After breakfast we made our way to the bus station to catch a 9:55am bus, but before taking our walk, we decided it was time to give in and buy 2 umbrellas. The rain here has been on and off since we arrived and whilst it has not been too annoying, it does cause an issue for our love of walking (and saving a penny by not catching a taxi or public transport). So 10 Bosnian marks later, we are now the proud owner of 2 umbrellas, yay!
The bus trip from Sarajevo was great. We settled on with some music and enjoyed the ride, with amazing scenery nearly the whole way, the 2.5hr trip flew by. The roads were very windy and hilly, I was having flash backs to my marathon as we drove along! Whilst the scenery was different, the hills were very similar! I had no urge though to get out and run!
We arrived into Mostar at 12:30pm, whilst at the bus station we purchased our tickets to Dubrovnik for tomorrow and hen took the walk into town to our pension. The accommodation was very easy to find and the lovely receptionist Amina greeted us with a smile and showed us to our room.
We then too a walk around the old town, crossing the stari most (the famous bridge in Mostar). Mostar is super busy with tourists during the day who visit here on a day trip as part of a tour, generally from Dubrovnik. By the time we navigated the crowds and crossed the bridge it was raining, so we decided to have some lunch and to escape the rain for a bit. Some more Cevapi was in order! I'm starting to look like Cevapi!
After lunch we headed back to the room to freshen up, Petes shirt is a Bob Marley shirt and it is begging to smell worse than Bob Marley himself. So a change of clothes was in order after the bus trip and before heading out for a few evening drinks.
We enjoyed a few beers in a bar by the bridge, sadly we did not get a chance to see anyone dive off the bridge which is something Mostar is famous for, we will try and see if we can see this tomorrow before we leave.
For dinner we went to a restaurant on the river with lovely views. We met a very nice couple from New Zealand and enjoyed chatting to them about their travels.
After dinner we tried to get a decent night shot of the bridge, I think at least one looks okay.
Time now for bed after a day of travel, even though only 2.5hrs, it's hard not to feel extra sleepy tonight!
Tomorrow we head off to Dubrovnik. We are hoping there will become sunshine, if not, thank god for the trust umbrellas!
Until then folks, take it easy, I know we are :-)
