We woke early after a really good nights sleep, the beds at the hotel are pretty comfortable and despite its central location, the hotel was pretty quiet.
Breakfast is included in the room rate and it was really good, typical European buffet breakfast, lots to choose from, we certainly won't starve. We especially loved some of the local dishes.
We were really glad to see the sun shining when we woke this morning, whilst there was a bit of cloud, it remained nice through the whole day. Because. It was such a glorious morning we headed out early to enjoy the sun shine. We mainly walked around the old town, filled with cobble stoned laneways, the old town is closed to traffic and as the day went on it got busier with locals enjoying their Saturday.
We took loads of photos and enjoyed simply wandering around. We took a walk by the river and then back up to the old town where we visited s cemetery overlooking the city. It made for some amazing views.
For lunch we stopped by a restaurant close to our hotel. The food here is so good, lots of barbecue meats, lots of fresh salads and of course tasty fresh bread. We had some stuffed peppers, stuffed onions, sarma (like a dolmade) and some meat balls. We also visited a small bar for a few lunch time beers.
This afternoon we took a walk to the bus station to buy our tickets to Mostar for Monday, we had no issues doing this and will depart at 9:55am.
After freshening up, it was time for happy hour drinks and we visited a really cute quirky bar on the hill side. I went for a local dark ale, whilst Pete had a lager.
We wandered around the old town looking for somewhere for dinner, there is loads of places to choose from, varying prices, but really mostly the same type of local food. We felt like cevapi again and chose a small place near our hotel. The meal was huge, we will look like cevapi if we eat too much more of it. So delicious.
By this time it was after 9:30pm and we were beginning to feel quite tired from all the walking we had done, according to my fit bit, we walked nearly 15km today!
So after a full day in Sarajevo, I can honestly say I really like it here. It's such a quaint little place, people are very friendly and I love the old town, it is like a melting pot of various places we have visited over the years. Well worth a visit! I wonder what tomorrow will bring?
