Nuremberg, what a lovely place!.

We woke early again today after an early night, we were both so tired last night and slept really well, so it's no wonder I woke early.

Our hotel does not include breakfast, so we decided to go buy some brekky items at the supermarket, lucky for us we discovered there is an Aldi right across the road. We bought some bananas and yoghurt and then came back to the hotel to eat. Nice brekky was consumed we were ready to hit the road and do some sight seeing!

We headed down toward the old town area, passing through a local market place selling beautiful fruit and vegetables, this is also the same place that they hold the Christmas markets, it's very pretty, right by a big church and near the river.

From the market place we walked through various streets admiring the gorgeous buildings, a lot of them are Tudor style and just look so incredibly old, you almost worry they are going to fall down. We stopped for a coffee at a small cafe that sold lovely coffee made from fresh roasted beans, just the pick me up we needed! We headed past the town hall and up towards the castle where we went inside to see some wonderful views over the city and also take some photos inside the castle complex.

After visiting the castle we headed back down toward the market place, by this time it was raining and we had to use our umbrellas, but unfortunately after a few gusts of wind, they started to lose shape. Our trusty Sarajevo umbrellas were giving up the ghost!

It was getting quite cold by now and we were close by the hotel again, so we took a break from walking in the rain before heading back our for some lunch. We'd seen some good places on our morning travels, so we headed back to the old town and had lunch at a small beer hall that was family run and had a good menu. Pete had Nuremberg sausages, whilst I decided on a dish of asparagus with holendaise sauce, yummy!

After lunch it was getting a bit heavier with the rain, so we decided it was time to buy some new umbrellas, we found a place that sold umbrellas for €3. Let's hope they can hold out for the next week, or even better, that the rain stops!

We also stopped for another coffee and some cheesecake, something to warm us up when the weather is so cold!

Due to the rainy weather, we headed to a local football supporter store that Pete had been sussing out before we came away. There was heaps of goo d stuff to buy, but he was happy with a scarf, so we purchased that and then went for a bit more of a walk.

Following our walk about we realised that time was creeping up on us, it was after 5pm and aside from the bad weather, we had both had a great day! After heading back to the room to freshen up, we went for a couple of drinks at a local restaurant.

For dinner tonight, we decided to steer clear of German fare, mainly because we do not want to get sick,of it. Under our hotel, there is a burger restaurant, which we have seen ding very good trade, it's always busy. So we decided to give it a try.

And............ We are both so glad we did! The food wa fantastic. I had a BBQ beef burger whilst Pete had bacon and cheese. We shared some chips which were super nice as well! We washed it all down with a big pint of German beer, yummy!

We have had a great day in Nuremberg today, despite the rain, it's been loads of fun and we've eaten heaps! Tomorrow we head to Bamberg for a day trip, so I'm sure it will also be an awesome day.

We really love Germany and all it has to offer! It's a fun place and so very pretty!

Happy Tuesday to all of you :-)
