Two tired travellers!

Today was our last full day in Munich so we planned on celebrating German style with beer and food! How else would we end our holiday.

We were super happy to see that it was a sunny day so popped on our shorts and walked down to the city centre. There was a fun run on, I already knew about this as had looked into it, I laugh now at the fact there is no way I could have run it, not after all the beers I'd had the night before! There were runners everywhere with their medals, I did have a bit of runner envy, I would have loved to have a medal to take home!

But for us, we were off to the pub, just to clarify, we'd had a sleep in, so it was after 10:00am when we set off from the hotel, we were drinking at a reasonable time. We went to a nice beer hall filled with tourists and locals, they had an oompah band and it was super busy, the locals were dressed in their Bavarian attire which was really cool to see. I just love those hats!

We had a beer and a weisswurst, this is a typical German sausage eaten before 12 noon, it is so tasty and I love mine with the sweet mustard. We had a great time just sitting back watching the waitresses carry all those glasses and plates, they are very strong!

From the beer hall we decided to go and see the Allianz arena, Pete is a follower of the German football league, so he was keen to see the stadium. So we caught the u-bahn out and took a look at the stadium. We did not do the actual tour as it is more of a Bayen Munich experience, and Pete is certainly not a fan of them! But the outside of the stadium is very impressive!

After visiting the stadium we caught the u-bahn back to the English gardens, on such a sunny day it was practically bursting with people. We were starting to get a bit tired by this time. There comes a time on holidays like this that you know it's time to go home, I'm not sure if it's because you know you are going home, or you are just ready to go, but today was that day. We were getting a bit short with each other and it did not help that we were walking on a gravel path wearing sandals and kept getting rocks in our shoes. We really should not have come back to the gardens, but we were here now, so made the most of it and sat down with what seemed like thousands of Germans, and we had a beer and a pretzel.

Then we took the long walk back into the city (more stones in sandals, tired weary travellers who should not have walked so far today!) and headed to another small restaurants for a couple more beers. It was nearing 5:30 by now and cooling down a bit, so we decided to go back to the hotel room and get changed before heading back out for dinner.

After a shower and re-charge of the batteries we headed out for a beer before dinner and then had dinner at another smaller beer hall not far from our hotel. We both had a sausage platter which was simply overflowing with food, it was amazing! There were 4 types of sausage, leberkasse, sauerkraut and potatoes, so stodgy and good! Despite being full to the brim, I had vowed to have some apple strudel today, so I ordered one, with Pete saying I was crazy. Of course when it arrived with two sets of cutlery he promptly shared it with me! It was worth it! So tasty!

We took a slow walk back to the hotel, we could have been rolled along our bellies were bursting! And straight to bed!

This morning the room smells somewhat fruity, maybe it was all that sauerkraut! Lol!

Well folks, that was our last day in Munich and our last full day of the trip. We fly home today at 4:35pm (12:35am Melbourne time) and get home to Australia tomorrow night at 9:35pm.

I won't do a trip wrap up now, as I will write one more post about our trip to get home and of course our last morning in Munich, we don't check out until 12pm.

But stay tuned, the end of the blog is coming. Until then, enjoy your days and think of us flying away tonight as you sleep!

Cheerio xx
