Good bye Brasov, hello Sighsoara

Saturday was our last morning in Brasov before catching the 13:20 train to Sighisoara.

Breakfast in the hotel was not until 9am on weekends, so we had a little sleep in. Breakfast at the hotel has been quite good, it's not a buffet, which makes me sad, but you still get good portions and there are a few options to choose from.

With breakfast eaten, it was time to take some more pictures of Brasov before heading off, it was a beautiful morning with blue I sky, so we enjoyed walking around taking some last minute snap shots.

We checked out of the hotel at 12pm, and then back the bus stop to catch a local bus to the station, we have really made use of public transport here, it's very efficient! Our tickets to Sighisoara were again, very easy to purchase and only cost a little of $12 for the two of us.  The journey was to be 2hrs 34 mins, but only travelling 145km in distance, hmmmm, sounds like a slow journey.

And....... It was. Thankfully the train was slightly air conditioned and you could also open the window which was good. We also managed to get into a section of the train sitting by ourselves, this was nice as Romanian's do love to talk on mobile phones whilst on the train, they certainly don't have quiet carriages here! The toilet also had no flushing facility, but luckily was clean enough that I didn't feel to grossed out having to use it. We chugged along at a very slow pace, I almost felt like I could run faster! It was like being on Vline in heat restrictions!

Finally, we arrived into Sighisoara a little later than expected, but only about 10 mins, so pretty good really. We got off the train and the station looked a little dishevelled, and then made our walk to the hotel. It was very hot, but only a 1.25km walk, so not too bad, although we struggled to find shade as the sun was right above us.

We found our hotel quite easily, thanks again to our trusty phones and that magical blue GPS dot! Check in was smooth, no back packer snobbery here, the reception clerk was simply lovely and showed us to the lift. We entered the room which was in total darkness, once we turned the light out we were pleasantly surprised, the room is absolutely lovely! It has a beautiful big bed with crisp white sheets, and the ceiling is filled with wooden beams, it's just gorgeous! A nice change after out last hotel which was a bit of a let down.

After a quick shower we headed out for a drink, it was after 5:30 by this time, so we'll past beer o'clock. We walked up the old square which is simply grooves, like a fairytale, can't wait to explore tomorrow. We chose a restaurant outside the old town though for a drink, nice cold beers and plenty of people around. We also met a cute little stray dog who was trying to find food to eat. He kept coming near our table and I realised there was some food on the ground near my foot (a dropped chip), I kicked it to him and he munched it up before going to find something else to eat. I felt very sad for him and would like to go buy him a tin of dog food!

For dinner we went to a different restaurant, recommended on trip advisor, we were very glad to have chosen it as the food was great and service quite friendly. We even enjoyed some dessert tonight, oh hang on, we had dessert last night too! Oh well, we are on holidays!

Tomorrow we will spend the day exploring Sighisoara, we both can't wait, it seems so cute here! The weather looks like it will be nice, so I'll have to bring the shorts out!

Hope you all enjoy your Sunday :-)
