Good bye Sighisoara, hello Sibiu

Had another great sleep in our super dark room, so woke feeling refreshed despite the amount of wine we consumed last night. We headed down for our last buffet breakfast, no more breakfast included for the rest of the trip :-(

With full stomachs, we did a little wander around Sighisoara for the last time, took an obligatory selfie and then back to the hotel to finalise our bag packing before checking out and walking to the station.

It was still a bit rainy, so we used our trusty Sarajevo umbrellas and made it to the station with plenty of time to buy tickets and wait for the train.

The train left at 11:17am, and pretty much arrived and departed right on time. But from then on, it was slower than slow! I noticed on the sides of the tracks there were lots of new railway sleepers, so it appears they are doing track works, hence why th train was so slow. We had to make a change of trains in a small town called Copsa Mica, and we were meant to arrive at 12:32, and then depart on the next train at 12:44. As we were travelling along, 12:44 came and went, I was a little worried we had missed our train! However when we arrived into Copsa Mica, 25 minutes late, the other train was waiting for everyone to board! Yay!

Once we boarded the train, we then sat there for about another 15 minutes before finally departing! It was so hot, again, no air conditioning and the windows only opened slightly. There was a lady sitting opposite me who was a local and she had a fold out fan, she lent it to me to use and through out the trip continued to hand it to me to keep myself cool. She was so sweet and kind, when we got off the train she wished us a good day and I thanked her profusely for letting me use the fan. I think I might have to get one of these myself as it really made a difference!

Once we got off the train, we walked to the hotel, it was a lot cooler upon arrival and only just over 1km to walk. We found our hotel quite easily and checked in. It's a basic place, but will do for the night, at a cost of $43 it's really pretty good!

By now it was close to 3pm, so after showering, we headed out for a look around and then for drinks and dinner.

As tonight was our last night in Romania we chose a local restaurant for dinner with local food. It was cute and in a little cellar. However, we were a little dissapointed in the food as it really did not live up to the descriptions or the tastiness of the other Romanian food we have had to date. Oh well, there's always lunch tomorrow before we leave on our train to Vienna.

So, not much of an action packed day, but I loved the lady with the fan on the train, she really made my day. Oh and also, despite the slowness of the train, travelling through the countryside of Romania is simply gorgeous, the little towns are just delightful. It would be nice to travel by car so you could stop and see the villages.

As I say, Tuesday is our last day in Romania, we leave for Vienna on the train at 7:25pm. We look forward to train journey as we have our own sleeper, just the two of us.

Stay tuned for the next exciting instalment and in the mean time, enjoy your Tuesday. Happy birthday also to my Mum! Hope you have a wonderful day xxxxx
