Goodbye Kotor, hello Belgrade!

So, today was our last day in Kotor, our flight to Belgrade did not leave until 5:20pm, so it left us plenty of time to enjoy the day and ensure we ticked off the list all that we wanted to do. Being a small place, there was not much left for us to see, but after a nice sleep in we headed out for coffee and breakfast, and then did a small walk around part of the city walls.

The city walls are not really much, Kotor does not seem to have made any real attempt to profit from the city walls, so they are I a bit of disrepair, if you did not go in search of them, you'd hardly even realise they are there to climb. We took a few pics and then grabbed some fruit from the local market and sat by the main gate of the city for a bit of people watching.

Then for a spot of souvenir shopping, should probably have done this earlier as we did not get much, but there could be some happy people with an extra snow globe on your desk soon!

By this time it was nearing midday, so we decided to grab a beer (such novel idea for us) and chill out before grabbing lunch. In case you've been following the blog, I'm guessing you'll have noticed a theme here, lots of food and drink!

For lunch we could not go past one final meal at Galerija, we have loved the food there and today's lunch was no exception. We had a Greek salad, roasted veggies, fish pate and prosciutto. Not failing to mention some lovely wine too. The waiter even knew our drink order, we have become regulars after 3 days!

Following lunch we made our way back to the hotel to collect our bags, then off to the airport in Tivat, we caught the local bus and arrived in plenty of time to check in and boarded the flight on time for take off at 5:20pm. It's a short 40 minute flight to Belgrade, and befor we knew it we were touching down on the tarmac.

The airport was a breeze, we literally landed in Belgrade at 6pm and were seated on the bus to head into the city by 6:25pm. Our bags were first on the conveyer belt! The bus trip into the city took 30mins, then it was a reasonable stroll to the hotel.

At 8pm I had to meet Mr Popovic, he is a local travel agent who organised our train tickets to Sofia, I met him in the foyer of the hotel promptly at 8pm. What a lovely jovial man he was. He handed over the tickets, explaining the details about our reservation, so delightful and friendly!

Now as you can imagine, at this stage we of course felt like it was time for a beer, and given it was dinner time we headed down to the main pedestrian mall that our hoteliers situated on and found a great place for a beer and pizza.

The main pedestrian street was packed with people, Belgrade is simply buzzing. It feels good to be in a big city after having been in some smaller places for a few days.  We have 2 nights here before heading off to Sofia on Wednesday evening. We look forward to exploring the city tomorrow, it seems like such a grand place, somewhere I think we will really enjoy.
